This one aims to re-create the original Westwood C&C shooter, C&C Renegade. Worth mentioning is that another fan project exists, called Renegade X, using the Unreal Engine. That aside, the base building in PS2 could already add some of that tactical strategy. Don't know how many people would like this system though, but vanilla Renegade has had thousands of players playing it for years and years with many players returning again and again. If each base in PS2 had more objective, or as someone suggested, more tiers of objectives before you capture it, the game would become a whole lot different. The rush of finally destroying a building, or recovering and winning a battle against unfathomable odds. Switching between tiers as you lose your guys/tanks and don't have enough creds. I love the base destroying and the (economy) tactics of this game. one of the first FPS games I think to try to throw infantry and vehicles together. Wasn't a MMO, but CnC Renegade was an attempt to have it play as an FPS. There was no base building, no power, nothing really beyond a single factory. Units came with specific descriptions of "build this to counter x", which again made for far too simplistic of a game. you could build units indefinitely (and so could your enemy). It became some sort of weird rock-paper-scissors game where you would just spam units.

Sure it could have been a terrific successor to the original Generals game, but with EA's track record I'm actually glad that the Generals franchise might have been spared an embarrassing end. That's why although they cancelled the new Generals 2, I'm not totally bummed about it. There was no base building, no power, nothing really beyond a single factory.Īnd those Cybernetic Commandos were ridiculous. why deploy in fixed positions when you can pick and choose? why even deploy immediately? let your enemies fight then deploy when it suits you. the drop MCVs in mechanic could have added more to the game for scenarios and MP if they'd kept the game like CnC3.
